Thinking back on the past seventeen years of my life, I can recall many influential people and events that have impacted me. However, Jesus has definitely proven to be the most influential of them all. Growing up in a Christian home, Jesus has always been a part of my life, but that alone is not what has made the impact.

The impact has come from the moments when I have heard Him speak the words that I needed to hear at that very moment—words of caution, comfort and encouragement. As my relationship with Jesus has grown, I have come to more easily see the beauty in myself and in others. I have more confidence in who I am as a person. I live joyfully, knowing that when things go wrong, I will always have someone I can turn to who will understand exactly what I am going through. That unwavering support has made me more secure and changed my outlook on life.

Going forward, I will make my relationship with Jesus evident in the way that I live. Although there is much value to the intrapersonal aspect of my relationship with Jesus, the even more important aspect is how I use the relationship to make a difference in the lives of others. When people meet me, I want them to immediately see how Jesus can change lives through the way that I live. I want them to see how I live responsibly, how I serve and encourage others wholeheartedly, and how I love and care deeply. My relationship with Jesus has developed (and is still developing) those characteristics in me. If, at the end of my life, I can look back and say that I lived like that, I will know that I have lived to the fullest.
