Oh my goodness! I have been so crazy busy this last week! Last Monday was Tigers opening day, Friday I was an MC at University of Detroit Mercy athletics awards night, (#DoYouEvenGoHere) and today I gave two financial education presentations at Henry Ford Community College! That might not seem like a lot to you, but on top of life events and planning for this summer's Young & Free calendar I feel like there isn't enough time in the day! Young & Free, we are doing big things around the city and I have even bigger things in the works for this summer!
Do you ever catch yourself saying you are too busy to make a budget? Life is too fast pace, I can't predict what's going to happen. Well, making a budget can be a daunting task. Collecting receipts, grabbing a note book and calculator, opening an excel document and the list goes on. But did you know that if you are a First Gear Account holder, you can let your online banking help you set your budget! Through Michigan First your online banking can categorize your transactions for you and help you see what your money is being spent on. I think that's the hardest part of setting a budget. Once you can clearly see where the money is being wasted you can make the proper adjustments to make your budget work for you!
Lately I have been using the cash only system. I take a specific amount of cash out of my account when I get paid and use that as my spending money. Once it's gone, no more spending for Ebeth. It has helped me stick on budget and save a lot of money!
Setting a budget doesn't have to take a lot time, there are plenty of free resources that we can use to help us be successful managers of our finances!
Keeping it Fresh, Young & Free,
