College is one of the hardest places to stay fit! The stress, the food, and the lifestyle is enough for anyone to lose their fitness focus. Here are some great ways to stay active and fit in college.
1) TAKE A PHYS. ED CLASS AS AN ELECTIVE
Enrolling in a physical education class like yoga, Zumba, or dance is a good way to keep daily exercise incorporated in your routine. Plus, it’s a great way to relax, recharge, and release any stress or tension.
2) SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUTS
What’s one more thing to add to your to-do list, right? Schedule your workouts like you would an appointment or homework. It’ll slowly start to become a part of your daily routine; the thing is you can’t break the date with yourself.
3) JOIN AN INTRAMURAL SPORT
A pick-up game of whatever sport you enjoy is the perfect way to have fun, meet new people, and workout all at the same time. Check your school’s website and see what intramural sports they offer.
4) FREE GYM?
Check your tuition fees and see if they include a gym fee. Most people don’t realize they have free access to their school’s exercise equipment and some schools even offer free exercise classes on certain days.
5) BUY A YOGA MAT, SMALL WEIGHTS, OR A HULA HOOP
Five Below® and other affordable stores carry yoga mats, small weights, jump rope and hula hoops. You can use this equipment to get a 15-30-minute workout in inside your dorm or apartment. You can do things on your own time and still stay fit!
Although college is overwhelming we can’t let our health suffer. Tryout any of these five tips and make sure you stay active this year. If you have any other fitness suggestions please leave a comment below. Also, follow me on social if you aren’t already @YoungFreeMi.
