Gas can be expensive. It can eat up the majority of our money, leaving us with little to spend when we arrive to where ever it is we're driving. With the holiday season coming up, you might plan on traveling. Here are a few tips you can use to save money at the pump:
1. Use a gas saving app.
Apps like gasbuddy, AAA TipTrik and iGasUp are awesome tools letting you know what gas stations have the lowest prices near you. Take advantage of these apps - but never drive too far out of your way for gas or you'll actually end up paying more in the amount of gas you burn driving there!
2. Keep your tires properly inflated!
According to FuelEconomey.gov, you can improve your gas mileage by 3.3 percent JUST by keeping your tires inflated correctly.
3. Don't drive too fast or too crazily!
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, you can assume that every 5 mph you drive over 60 is like paying an additional $0.21 a gallon at $3.00 a gallon. So make sure you have enough time to get where you're going; this way you don't speed, meaning you'll save money at the pump.
