Paid to Play?

Get Paid to Play Video Games?

Can you imagine getting paid to play your favorite video game?  Check out this article from moneytalksnews.com.  Sounds crazy, but Amex is offering an incentive where if you complete certain objectives within the new Halo game coming out, you can get a small amount of money knocked off your statement.

Joystiq reports the following…

American Express is offering cash off your bill, gift certificates to Best Buy and other retailers, select deals with partner companies like AMC Theaters, and a chance to go to E3 on their dime, simply for playing Halo 4.

After syncing your card with your Xbox Live account, you can complete special objectives in Halo 4 to earn the goods – well, okay, the objectives aren’t that special. Finishing the campaign on Normal or tougher difficulties will knock $25 off your statement.

While the details for this sound a little fuzzy, the idea blows me away.  The question I prompt for all of you is do you think it’s appropriate for a credit card company to do this?  Do you think in the future other companies and financial institutions will do the same?  Would you like the same opportunity?  Comment below with your thoughts on this strange new incentive.

Until next time,

Austin
