Let’s all cross our fingers, knock on wood, bow our heads and believe that we experienced our last snowfall of the season. Sound good?
Today, I wanted to talk to you about the thrifty off-season shopping that you should be taking advantage of!
As tempting as it is, my advice for you is to avoid the spring and summer purchases for these next couple of weeks and focus on the amazing steals you can get on sweaters, coats and scarves!
I am one of those people who really enjoys shopping. I also love planning ahead, saving money and being prepared. Because I’m always looking for a deal and always thinking ahead, last week I started my Christmas shopping. Yep, I said it, CHRISTMAS SHOPPING in April. I headed to my nearest outlet mall and went straight to the clearance section, as is a habit of mine. I purchased 3 fashionable and warm scarves for $3 each and 3 oversized knitted sweaters for $5 each! Basically, I got 3 Christmas presents for $8 a person, #winning. As you go out, I want to encourage you to use your thrifty eye and spend your hard earned money wisely!
If you’re making the purchase for yourself, ask these questions:
Do I really need it?
Do I absolutely love it?
Can I get a similar product elsewhere for a lower price?
Do I already own something similar to this product?
In order to build an exciting wardrobe, you want to have a wide variety of items, so avoid buying a ton of the same type of clothing. Experiment with different prints, fabrics, colors, and styles, and focus on pieces that can be combined with several other items in your wardrobe – versatility is key!
As the seasons are changing, take advantage of the off-season shopping to prepare for next fall and winter. Before you purchase something for your own wardrobe, make sure you’re thinking about the money you’re spending and all the ways in which you could spend it before making that decision. Have fun and be thrifty!
