Minimalist Kitchen for College

My kitchen is one of the hardest rooms to keep clean! I have this issue for a few reasons. First, I’m always hungry, so the kitchen is a busy spot and second, we have way too much stuff in our kitchen. You only need a few things to have an operating kitchen. You can even have a mini kitchen while you are away at college.

I wanted to share 3 useful kitchen appliances that you should, keep your eye out for and consider investing in this summer to prepare for the upcoming school year.

  • Crock-Pot

Crock-pots are magical. They can make almost anything taste amazing! They are easy to use and they can cook a large amount of food at one time!

My go to crock-pot recipe is chicken breast, cooked with a can of green salsa. I let it cook for 3-5 hours, depending on my day. The end result is a flavorful, moist shredded chicken, which is great for nachos, tacos, rice or really, whatever you want!

  • Hot Water Kettle

This is just a smart thing to have, especially if you don’t have access to a microwave. This appliance will heat up boiling water in under 2 minutes! You can use it to make french pressed coffee, tea, roman noodles, or anything else that requires boiling water.

  • Plug in Skillet / Sandwich Press

Because, who doesn’t love the smell of bacon in the morning, right? These appliances have nearly endless possibilities, from pancakes and eggs, to cheese quesadillas and grilled cheese sandwiches. Having this appliance is like having a full stove top and a skillet!

These 3 kitchen appliances are wonderful tools to have while you are away at school, if your dorm will allow them. This summer you should check out garage sales and special holiday discounts in order to save big bucks on your new kitchen appliances.

Keeping it Fresh, Young & Free,
