Recently, in the last year or so, there has been a huge trend of having cohesive Instagram feeds. You know, the feed where everything is in the same color tones and cropped the same way. And I’ve got to be honest, those feeds are extremely attractive and appealing to the eye. It makes everything seem so glamorous and perfect. But in all honesty it can also make scrolling through Instagram feeds a little discouraging. Why, you ask? Well, I feel like sometimes we can view other people on social media and have a perception that because they have their feed in order, their whole life is in order. They live a crispy clean life full of shopping, traveling and glamorously lounging around the pool with their adorable puppy all day. False.
News flash! Social media has switched up the game. People post only what they want you to see and if they have a “perfect” feed, they did that on purpose. It’s called marketing. People don’t just use their social pages to share with friends. Sometimes, they’re used as a personal website for promotion. Marketing yourself is a powerful tool that can help you advance in whatever plans or dreams you may have.
People are extremely opinionated about it, but I for one am an advocate of social media. So whether you are sharing memories with friends and family or staging photoshoots for your Instagram feed, stay consistent, stay encouraged and stay true to yourself. If you do those three things, you are well on your way to becoming “Instafamous.” Just because someone else is doing something doesn't mean that it’s best for you. Take advantage of the platform you have been given on social media to impact your future and impact your followers.
