This week I’m actually out of town, volunteering at a camp in Indiana. I need to be honest and say that I have only been camping one time in my life and I was young. My family was never the camping type. I went out camping with another family and I remember thinking it was the worst idea in the world. However, now I think I might enjoy it!
My summer camps as a child and teenager where more of what I call, city girl camp. We stayed at a nice camp facility in cabins or we stayed at a college campus in dorms. I am grateful for my camp experiences that I had, and now I am a leader at camp! I know many of you Young & Free Michigan are camp counselors, VBS leaders, or day camp instructors this summer and that is awesome!
It’s so important that we make a positive influence on the youth of our day. Now we have the opportunity to be in their memories as that fun camp counselor who made everyone laugh, or the camp counselor who gave me confidence, or the camp counselor who encouraged me to be myself.
While I’m at camp this week I plan on having a little fun myself, but more so I plan on helping the teenagers at camp make memories that will impact their life.
Young & Free Michigan, we have more influence than we think. Let’s use that influence to help one another.
Keeping it Fresh Young & Free,
