Calling all dog lovers! I think I found the solution to one of our many problems…as a dog lover we all know the struggles that come with leaving your baby home alone. The guilt is enough to make you turn around or cancel your plans indefinitely. But it shouldn’t be that way, right? I decided to make it my mission to find great places in Michigan that both you and your dog can go and enjoy together.

My first stop was Howie’s Bayou in Ferndale, Michigan. It’s located right off of Woodward just North of 9 Mile. They have a nice patio and there is plenty of parking including meters and lots. Howie’s food is so good! I am a huge fan of creole style food, especially seafood dishes, so it was a no brainer to come here. I ordered the gumbo, my favorite dish, which had sausage, okra, chicken, and a whole lotta love in it! It was served with a side of cornbread which was equally good.

What I loved most about Howie’s was their friendliness even towards Sophie. Our server made sure she had her own bowl for water and treated her like any other customer. It was a plus that there was another dog on the patio too so I felt better about Sophie being there.

I definitely will be back to Howie’s to try more of their delicious food! I recommend you and your pup give this place a try for yourself and see how much you love it. They have a $10 entrée special on Tuesdays and overall pretty decent prices. Howie’s gets two thumbs up from me and a tail wag from Sophie!
