My parents have had a HUGE impact on the way I look at my finances. From the time I was just a little guy trying to figure out how to best spend the five bucks in my birthday card, they have always taught me to consider the benefits and consequences that come with managing my money. Now that I am 23, I can’t help but look back and be thankful for this. While at the time, it might have seemed annoying; it has really been an important part of my success as a college student.
The question I have for you guys is who has influenced you when it comes to the way you spend your money? What lessons did you learn about money from your friends and family at a young age?
With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day right around the corner, there is no better time than now, to reflect on this. Maybe instead of spending money on flowers and a brand new wrench set, try writing them a thank you note listing all the ways they have had a positive impact on who you are today. Chances are, they will appreciate this way more than watching you stretch your wallet on another cliché gift.
Until next time,
