As my husband and I prepare for 2016, we have set a goal to get out and stay out of debt. I thought I would share some tips with you that can help you stay motivated and goal driven this year.
1. Be consistent, get a routine
This probably sounds silly, but if you makea habit to review your spending andbills every week or two, staying on budget will become natural. Giving yourself a routine or a schedule will automatically put you in a business mindset and when it comes to your money, that’s what you want! Be a manager of your finances, not just a consumer.
2. Create a vision board
Creating a vision board or goal chart will help you SO MUCH! Print out pictures or sayings of why you want/need to get out of debt. This will help you visualize how it will change your life. You can also create a goal chart that you can fill in every time you pay off more debt!
3. Get support
Support is so important when you take on a tough task. I’m not saying everyone needs to know
your business, but if you aren’t working towards these goals with someone, reach out to a close friend or family member and let them know what you are trying to accomplish. By getting support, it will help take the pressure off of you to spend money on social events and elaborate gifts. Having support and accountability will help you stay focused.
Getting out of debt is not impossible. You can do it; you just have to make sure you’re committed to your goal.
