Easy(ish) Ways for Young Adults to Make Extra Money pt. 1

We could all (typically) use a little more money. I mean - I'm not talking about greed/the lust of money taking over someone's life; it just doesn't hurt to have a little extra to spare. So when you're ALREADY working, going to school, taking care of your family, trying to work out, etc etc etc.... HOW DOES ANYONE FIND TIME TO BREATHE, LET ALONE MAKE A LITTLE BIT MORE CASH?!?!

Here are a few simple ways to add a little more green to your pocket:

I just created a Swagbucks account, "just" as in today. The way it works is - you do different "tasks" to earn Swagbucks. Tasks include something as simple as uploading a profile picture, to taking a survey, to looking things up using Swagbucks as the search engine.  Once you've got enough Swagbucks, you can use your winnings to claim gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks and iTunes.

Donate Your Plasma

If you don't like to donate blood - you will NOT like donating plasma and might be better off skipping to the next way to make money.  There are a couple qualifications you must meet in order to donate plasma. You have to be at least 18 years old, weigh over 110 pounds, and be healthy.

According to Donate Plasma, the first donation process will usually take about two hours, but it will be worth it as you'll usually be paid anywhere from $15 - $25, plus you'll be saving and helping improve lives.

For more information on the process, what you'll need when you go, and where TO go to donate plasma, click here.

Become a Mystery Shopper

I have yet to try this myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about mystery shopping. According to Money Saving Mom, you'll be paid about $7 to $15 a job, plus some sort of reimbursement for what you buy during the mystery shop as well.

There are a couple of key things I want to urge before you sign up for any mystery shop positions online though.

  • NEVER EVER pay to do a mystery shop (or any job...)
  • Don't share you credit card or debit card information
  • Don't share your Social Security Number

When/if you end up deciding to try mystery shopping, you can find a list of different mystery shopping companies here.

Join a Focus Group

This is also something I haven't tried yet - but I've heard you can make some decent money from participating in one. Companies will get together focus groups, typically their customers or whoever it is they plan on "marketing" to, and will ask them questions, survey them, and see how they feel about certain things. As well all know, time is money, and the people who participate. A blog called I've Tried That shared experiences of participating in a focus group, and many different consumer focus groups you can get involved in, including one called the 20/20 Panel.

According to Yahoo Voices, an average focus group will usually pay about $100.

So if you are ever in need of some extra money, try look into some of those options above! There are a few other ways to earn extra money, most of which involve more of your personality and hobbies. I'll be sharing them soon so make sure to keep tuned!

Until next time,

Vicky :)
