Change is Coming
Social work with a focus on Marriage and Family Counseling is my plan to help Michigan. In order to achieve this goal, I will obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and then begin my Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling. These degrees will allow me to help families deal with any hardships they may face in their everyday lives. Families may face marital, emotional, physical, and financial challenges that make them unable to live their lives to their full potential. I will provide them with the tools needed to ensure they are able to provide their children with a loving home environment. As a Social Worker part of my job will be to evaluate a child’s home environment to make sure it is a fit environment for a child. With my degree I can assist homeless families, victims of domestic violence and pregnant teenage girls who feel they have nowhere to turn. Assisting homeless families with finding employment will allow children to be given the basic necessities for life. While obtaining my degree I can participate in an internship focused on helping victims of domestic violence by providing them with advice, alternative measures, and encouragement. Teenage girls who have unplanned pregnancies can still give their children a loving home by possibly choosing adoption. I will provide counseling, conduct evaluations, and home visits to be certain the child is placed in a great home.
After spending some time as a social worker, I want to begin focusing on counseling children and families. My main goal would be to open the lines of communication within the family. While talking to couples on the verge of divorce I will be able to help them understand how their decision will impact the children involved. I will also have one-on-one sessions with the child so he or she is able to express his or her feelings. My plan is to provide each couple with tools necessary to give their children a living environment that makes them feel secure, loved, stable, and safe. I am passionate about children, and I feel it is my job to give them the best start in life possible.
Children are innocent people who deserve a great start at life. Through my career I will do everything in my power to make sure I am helping improve the state of Michigan one happy home at a time. I will continue to volunteer within my community and give back to those who are less fortunate. Education will be my stepping stone to helping a multitude of people at once. I want to change the lives of children; to make their home feel like a safe haven where they have no worries. In every country families should have strong bonds, but when the bond is weakened, it is the job of a Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist to repair it. This is a responsibility I want to fulfill.
